Dave and Sharon Benson of Dave's Appliance in Eldon are celebrating their 50th year in business. I took this photo of a dryer several months ago, it was packed with lint. Notice the black area, that is where the lint was on fire. This is why it is so important to have a good vent system so the lint won't build up inside the dryer. There is an average of 15,000 dryer fires a year that cause property damage.

I've decided to list a few of my Pet Peeves. This is not intended to bash anyone but rather to enlighten people on why it's important to do things the right way.
#1- No strain reliefs (clamps) on dryer or range cords. These appliances don't come with cords attached so it's up to the installer or customer to install them. First if the cord is allowed to rub against the appliance over time it may allow voltage to go ground, possibly shocking someone. Second if the appliance is ever moved it's possible to pull the cord away from the terminal block resulting in a shock.
As I said it's the installer's responsibility to do this . Take the time to look for this next time you buy your appliance. Let me know if this information is helpful, thanks. In the following weeks I will post more.
