It's been a really busy couple of weeks here at the Hudnell household! The Camarillo Police Department shared a lovely video on their Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages about Edward’s visit and his story—I'll drop the link below for you to check it out. We also had a special luncheon at Los Robles Hospital with the emergency room staff, the operating room team, and everyone who helped save Edward’s life that day. Honestly, it was an emotional experience; there wasn’t a dry eye in the room! As soon as I walked in, I started recognizing faces and got all teary-eyed. I went straight to Dr. Waldrop and gave him a big hug, thanking him for saving our son’s life. Edward was a bit shy, like he usually is at these reunions, but they surprised him with a huge superhero poster showing him lifting a car over his head with one arm, while the entire medical staff cheered him on from behind. They also gave him some lovely drawings and toys! We received so many heartfelt cards and letters, especially from the surgeon's wife. Knowing he prayed before Edward’s surgery really touched our hearts and brought us all to tears again.
On July 3rd, we returned to Children's Hospital for some follow-ups with ultrasound and hematology. Unfortunately, there haven’t been any real changes in Edward's condition. The blood clots aren’t growing, but they aren’t shrinking either, so it looks like we’ll be on medication for another three months. Meanwhile in August we have an appointment scheduled to either remove or replace the stent in his bile duct. After all the appointments were done, we managed to visit Dr. Lucas, one of Edward’s surgeons, and some of the nursing staff. They were all amazed at how active and energetic Edward has been—he looks wonderful!
Thanks to Jayme and her amazing team of swim instructors, Edward has been swimming and regaining that muscle strength he lost.
Thank you all once again for your continued support of our GoFundMe! It has made staying home and caring for Edward a lot easier, so I don’t have to stress about finding a new job just yet, though I may need to look for one down the line.
