Our sweet studio member made a whole flock of birds for a garden totem project in conjunction with Carolina Clay Matters. The guild Garden Project will culminate in November with an epic exchange of handcrafted pieces. We have multiple P51 members involved in this project. Can’t wait to see these birds fly off to their new homes and see the final stacks!!! Nice job Nelly!

On May 15, we had an alternative firing day! We fired pots in 2 raku kilns (custom built by our members) and also did a barrel firing. We learned a lot about glazes, reduction, and fire! Most importantly we had a great time being together on a beautiful day.

Our spring production is ramping up with many of our potters participating in the upcoming Carolina Clay Matters Pottery Market! So you can imagine what a wrench it throws in things when TWO kilns break at the same time! Many members chip in to keep the studio running - being a potter is about more than playing in clay!

Special thanks to Stone Thrown Pottery for developing mad skills to get new controllers installed in these two kilns. And thanks to Clay-King.com for stellar customer service and having supplies in stock and ready to go!

I want to invite members of this group to check out some of the fabulous pottery auction items available in the Canopy Housing Foundation's Virtual Holiday Auction. It is a great opportunity to do some holiday shopping and helping support unmet housing needs in our community. www.bidforcanopy.com (If this is not allowed for posting, please delete - and I apologize)
New Work!
I am interested in purchasing something -- how do I find out when you are open?
Good morning, sent a message
Do you have hours you are open for purchasing pottery?
I teach pottery and glass classes and I have found myself without a kiln this week. My new kiln will not arrive in time to fire the elephant bowls that my class made. Can I pay someone to fire these for me or do you know where I can? Thanks!!
do you have any pottery plates that look like leaves?
Thanks, Denise and Maria, for your kind patience with us newbies at yesterday's hand-building workshop. Your easy going teaching styles made the afternoon fun and stress-free. It was amazing learning the simplicity of the basics, and just how easy it is to make something interesting with clay. The hardest part was deciding what to make! Thanks for doing the glazing for us. I can't wait to see our finished products!
