“Why Do They Do It?". What does it take to get someone on stage? - article by RRR Managing Director, Meredith Bean McMath

What would it take to get you on the stage? A million bucks? For most of us that’s would be a yes. And maybe not even then…. But for many others, all it takes is an invitation. Why? What makes a...

Here’s a backstage look at the lighting operator by artist Don Freeman in 1932. How about the vest and tie while running the resistance dimmers? How many ever got to run one of these dimming systems? There was an artistry to it from the older stage hands who had mastered these systems.

(H/T to Bobby Wilson for sharing this great piece of backstage art!)

As America is vaccinated and begins to get back to business, we now know that masks will continue to be necessary.

As a theatre producer, I look forward to being able to put on productions again - likely this fall. But, first, this will depend completely on whether the CDC is encouraging public gatherings by then.

Then, if they are, I will only audition actors and hire technical staff who have their vaccine cards. Everyone in the audience will need to be masked, however, because we won’t be checking vaccine cards at the door.

Strange world, but we will make it work... for as long as necessary.

What Shakespeare Actually Wrote About the Plague

In the works of the playwright, who lived his entire life in the shadow of bubonic plague, epidemic disease is present as a steady undertone, surfacing most vividly in everyday exclamations of rage and disgust.
