Creating fall planters, either in a tabletop container or a raised garden bed, is a great way to prepare your garden for the fall while adding seasonal interest. Relate this activity back to the spring to reflect upon how far your garden has come during the harvest season. The symbolic nature of this activity - events coming to a close or new beginnings, helps us feel connected to the natural rhythms of life. #meadowsfarms #plantalittlehappiness #horttherapy #horticulture #therapy

Now that nightime temperatures are dropping below 50 degrees, it's time to start moving your houseplants inside if you haven't already. Begin to acclimate them by moving them into a less sunny area for a week or two. Spray thoroughly with an insecticidal soap to get rid of any insects that may be hiding on the leaves and in the soil. If your houseplants need repotting, now is the time to do it. #meadowsfarms #plantalittlehappiness #houseplants #humidity

Hummingbirds are preparing for their winter migration. Continue to be diligent about keeping your feeders clean and filled. Do this until hummingbirds are no longer observed in your area. Adding additional feeders will greatly help the hummingbirds that are bullied and pushed aside by the more aggressively feeding males of the species. #meadowsfarms #plantalittlehappiness #hummingbirds #feedinghummingbirds

The primary reason why people usually start gardening is to produce their own healthy food, but there are many other reasons why gardening is beneficial to our physical health, including stress relief. A study in the Netherlands indicated that gardening is better at relieving stress than other relaxing leisure activities. Participants who spent thirty minutes gardening reported being in a better mood than the group that spent the same amount of time reading, and they also had lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol. #meadowsfarms #plantalittlehappiness #gardenforhealth #gardeninglife #gardenforhealth #gardeninglife
