Like so many others, we just got the notification that power won’t be restored at the Pharmacy until 4PM. I am heading that way to check on things and we will open just as soon as we can. We thank you for your patience and are all so grateful for the first responders and electrical and infrastructure workers (including all those from the city of Franklin) and even many of our fellow citizens that jumped in to help each other out last night!

It’s not even 10 AM and I have already had two people very specifically call me by name and thank me, we had a lovely customer bring kolaches by to thank our staff, and I received a phone call from a wife concerned about paying her bill (her husband is in the hospital and the situation sounds grave…she has much bigger things to worry about at the moment).

Y’all. I love this community. Robertson County has been such a blessing in my life and I want to be a blessing as well.

Happens all day long everyday. We have to make choices about what we fill just to stay open. It is a very messed up system that steals money from us and limits where you can get your prescriptions filled.

If we don’t turn away some prescriptions then we won’t stay in business.

These are choices made by your PBM.

Happens all the time. Pharmacies won’t stay in business long when paid less than cost. It’s not how business works.

Robbed in broad daylight again by & ….how many plumbers buy a toilet for $600 and install it for a customer for $580? How/why does the FTC/DOJ even allow this? I had a patient visiting from Alabama who wanted to fill their child’s Rx. BCBSAL only paid $37 for a med that costs me $83!!! When I explained this to the mother and showed her my invoice and the paid claim, she replied “ I never have this problem in Birmingham!” — too many PHARMACY owners are simply not doing their part in bringing light to these pricing issues. Realistically we should be making 40%-50% margins .. not 22% or in the cases mentioned above literally getting paid less than our acquisition cost.

This is true and accurate. You pay more because of PBM’s and how the add extra unnecessary cost to your drugs. And are actively trying to drive out competition like us. Be informed.

This is an example of TRANSPARENT COST PLUS pricing. This needs to be the standard benchmark for pharmacy reimbursement.. it’s known as NATIONAL AVERAGE DRUG ACQUISITION COST ( NADAC). The insurance companies do NOT want pricing transparency like this for a few reasons: 1) it doesn’t allow for their back room manipulations that lead to higher prescriptions costs ( spread pricing, “ rebates” which are essentially payoffs to put a med on formulary) 2) it would force pharmacies to compete on SERVICE and many of these insurance companies ( PBMs) also own pharmacies and currently capitalize by forcing patients to utilize the pharmacies they own either directly by stating that the patients must use for example or indirectly by offering copay incentives (decreased copays) at the pharmacy’s that they own. Some states such as WEST VIRGINIA have implemented this NADAC program in their state Medicaid program and saved $54 MILLION dollars. Yes, $54 million in WASTE that was going to unnecessary middlemen. Every state should implement NADAC + pricing immediately and both sides of the aisle should support this. It’s not THEORY that middlemen like PBMs ( ) ADD costs to our drug delivery model, IT’S FACT. We should all be asking our state representatives to remove PBMs from our drug delivery model.
