Let’s make birding welcoming for everyone! ❤️
It’s the FIRST DAY of !
Ready to make birding accessible for all? Here are 4 ways you can get involved:
1️⃣ Advocate for Accessible Trails: Reach out to local parks and nature reserves to ensure they have accessible trails and facilities for all birders. Find out what to look for in our 'Access Considerations' document on our website and share the knowledge!
2️⃣ Create a Welcoming Birding Environment: Host bird outings that are inclusive of different mobility needs, sensory sensitivities, and communication preferences. We have a tool to help you get started called 'Steps to Implement Accessible and Inclusive Birding' on our website.
3️⃣ Submit a Site Review to the Birdability Map: Share your experiences at birding locations to help others find accessible spots and encourage improvements.
4️⃣ Support and Volunteer: Get involved with organizations working to make the outdoors inclusive of ALL people, like Birdability, Field Inclusive, CorpsTHAT, Black AF in STEM, and more!
Together we go further!

Image description: The top section features the text: "CHRISTOPHER & DANA REEVE FOUNDATION AND BIRDABILITY PRESENT Birdability Week 2024 October 21–27". This text is set on a blue background with white bird silhouettes flying around.
Below that, there is an illustration of two women birding together. One is a Black woman using a power wheelchair and wearing matching blue earrings and hoodie along with sneakers and pants, with binoculars around her neck at the ready. There is a bird perched on her power wheelchair arm. The other woman is white with pale purple hair, wearing a green outfit and a pink bandana, and stands next to the woman using a wheelchair, holding binoculars. Both women are smiling, and they appear to be enjoying the birding experience. On the right side of the image, there is the message:
"Happy Birdability Week! Together we go further."
