Atwood's Christmas Trees

This morning I had the opportunity as a local business owner, community member and parent to attend one of the Fairfield Middle School Comminty Day events. It gave me the opportunity to learn how they are implementing the Leader in Me program throughout not only their school life but how those habits play a role in everyday life as well. I walked away impressed with not only the leadership from our educators and administrators at FMS but blown away by the leadership and knowledge of our youth attending FMS. We really do have great things going on here!

Words can’t express how thankful I am to have been part of the Adela’s legacy. When we purchased the store almost 5 years ago, it was one of the riskiest, biggest and quickest decisions we had ever made. But I had a feeling then that I could do this. I could carry on the success of Adela’s and build on that success to create something of my own. We didn’t initially plan on moving on so quickly and selling the store, but life changes quickly and some things you can’t plan for or forecast. While we have moved on from the area, we are so thrilled to have found new local owners who will keep Adela’s going.

We are so excited to announce the next Adela’s owners – Mandy Hunter and Shawn McCarty. We’ve known Shawn since middle school and we met Mandy in recent years when our sons were both involved in soccer. They are both local to this area and will bring their talents and skills to Adela’s to take it to its next level.

They will make their own introductions and posts soon but I know you will be excited about their ideas and ownership. We anticipate the sale of the store will be finalized in the next few weeks and will keep you updated on a final transition date. Mandy has already started selecting and curating products for you to see very soon and at holiday time in the store.

This isn’t a final goodbye. I will still be in the store weekly throughout January and into February. Like Dorian did for me, I will make myself available as much as Mandy wants/needs because I want to see her be successful and see Adela’s continue to serve the role it does in all your lives and this community.

Much like you all welcomed me into your lives and families as the owner of Adela’s, I hope you will do the same for Mandy.

My favorite part of owning Adela’s is definitely our customers, who are like family to us. We have shared so much across that counter. You have been there through thick and thin, through good times and pandemics. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to express how much you all have impacted my life.

Many of you have expressed relief that we found buyers, as this community needs Adela’s – but please remember, Adela’s needs this community and all of you. Shopping local is vital to its success and future. This picture of Dorian, Mandy and I is a perfect representation of Adela’s past, present and future.

🌲Tell us your traditions!🌲

I'll go first! My boys started a tradition of each shoppong for an ornament for me each Christmas. It started as shopping our own gift shop as well as Adela's in Fairfield and sometimes Home Sweet Home in St. Ansgar as we would visit family. I used to dream of a themed tree but have grown to love our theme of family traditions. Each year as I decorate our tree it warms my heart to know theses two boys continue to carry on this tradition.

YES

🌲Do we have a good selection?
We think you can still fine a nice tree. Most are 7ft and under.

🌲Do we currently have tall trees?
We currently have a handful 9ft or taller.

🌲Are all trees precut?
YES

🌲Do we have roping?
We are sold out of roping and boughs for the season. We do
have a few decorated wreaths.

We are open 4-6 M-F, Sat 10-5 & Sun 1-5 until we are sold out.

If any of you visited us the past couple weekends you may have had this guy help with your 🌲 when he wasn't off at 🏀. He is some of the "new" 💪 we have and he's been great help all around our farm!
