THE INSCRIPTION

The inscription, or titulus, on each of our crucifixes is engraved to reflect the description in the Gospel of John (19:20): "Now many of the Jews read this inscription...and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek."

While "INRI" may be a useful shorthand, we feel that the full inscription both recalls the historical reality and communicates the kingship of Christ which is proclaimed to all nations.

This titulus design is inspired by the painting Christ Crucified by baroque painter Diego Velázquez.
