If you’ve ever spent time in the motor city, or just visited here once in your life, you’d know the feeling when I say, this place is like no other anywhere else. It’s a vibe here for sure, and quite hard to describe, but if you know, you know!
I once was in a bar in Denmark years ago and I overheard a woman speaking to her date about Detroit, only to find she had never been here! I interrupted of course and let her know a thing or to about the place she was speaking of. Awesome people have lived here and still do. They were not responsible for the moral decay nor the gentrification taking place, so absolutely no slang would be tolerated. I look back on that day with the abrasive action I took, but in that moment I felt the courage that has followed me from that day onward. No one would speak il of Detroit in my presence.
“Detroit is not ghetto, it’s French” so know you’re history! Period.
