Today is and we are once again pausing, and thinking about how we can give back.

When we started our tiny soap company over 10 years ago, we knew that giving back needed to be part of our mission, so we agreed to give 10% of our profits to charity right from the beginning. But we also try to give outside these parameters when we see a need that we are able to meet.

We hope that Giving Tuesday, and the holiday season encourage you to do the same. Look for opportunities around you however small or large, and see if there is something you can do to help. Tiny contributions make a big difference over time.

Amazingly enough, Thanksgiving is just a few days away which means the holidays are barreling toward us. As a small business owner, life has been busy for months already and (if all goes well), we'll continue to stay busy into January.

We know for non business owners, the holidays tend to be a time of busy-ness as well. Lots of fun, typically lots of family time - even those who love the holidays can find them a bit stressful.

So here's your reminder before we officially begin this season to pause and enjoy the little things. Take a walk, meditate, dance, read a book, or just sit quietly. Whatever you need to help make this season more balanced for you.

We are Julia & Wayne - the founders of Whispering Willow. We started Whispering Willow in 2010. After searching endlessly for skin care products that didn't bother Julia's skin, we started to make our own. We gave them to family & friends as gifts (spoiler: they loved them) and a business was born.⁠

Our Story

We are Julia & Wayne, known to most as Whispering Willow. We met in college when paired together for our senior project. Many late nights that bled into early mornings made us realize that our lives would be best spent together.

Furthering our education and our careers proved increasingly demanding and we found that we had less time for ourselves and for each other. We decided we wanted something different, something better. We wanted a life where we could be together and live each day with intention and purpose. We decided that starting our own business was the best way to achieve that goal. So we jumped in.

We have always loved the art of creating and the warmth that comes with sharing the result. We found that soapmaking helped ground and nurture us and the process itself required mindful focus and attention. We realized we could do something that was personally fulfilling and could also benefit the lives of folks like you.
