When you spend years hiding from people so they don’t see your pain … it feels strange to open the door and say “come on in!”

I still find myself holding my breath, waiting for the judgement to flood in. BUT instead, I’ve received hundreds of messages of LOVE and APPRECIATION for sharing my journey. I have spoken with SO MANY women in the last few days who feel validated and heard! If you feel sick and you have implants, you are NOT alone. You are NOT crazy. You are NOT imagining this. Let’s help others connect the dots. Share with anyone who needs to hear this.

I am filled with gratitude for being able to share my truth finally. 💕💕💕

IT’S TIME TO TALK!! The FDA has finally recognized that Breast Implant Illness is a real thing. It exists. It is not a made up illness. It does NOT affect everyone. But the majority of people who get sick have genetic susceptibility and/or a compromised autoimmune system. Women who have had cancer and treatment can have compromised immune systems. Women who have had preventative mastectomies are trying to save their lives, not kill themselves slowly. There ARE OTHER OPTIONS for reconstruction without putting foreign bodies in us. I wish I knew then, what I know now!! If you are interested in learning more… ➡️ go to my previous post. Educate yourself about the deadly toxins in breast implants. Look at the symptom list. Many coincide with Lyme, CIRS, Mold and CFS. Why do you think? Because when you have one autoimmune illness, you often have many. And with autoimmune issues, you shouldn’t be putting toxins in your body. PLEASE reach out (any time) if you have questions. I truly mean that. DM me. I will answer each one personally.

OMG! Yesterday marked a HUGE MILESTONE!! (Very candid share here) Please read as this is hard for me to put it all out there. But worth it, if it helps just one person.
************************
“The new requirements follow years of complaints from tens of thousands of women who received breast implants and later suffered from brain fog, fatigue and other health issues, collectively known as “breast implant illness.” (A black box warning is no longer enough). — essentially mandating the surgeon MUST HAVE a discussion around each ONE of the risks.

“The FDA checklist also cautions that “a breast implant is NOT a lifetime device” and may eventually require removal or replacement.” (That means scans every year and replacement surgery at least every 5-10 years!)

I will share more of my journey later, but in 1998, at the age of 31, I had a prophylactic double mastectomy to decrease my breast cancer risk by 97%. I am positive for BRCA1 and along with my family history, I had an 85% risk of getting breast cancer. And 65% risk of ovarian cancer. I had reconstructive surgery and had saline implants put in. (Three surgeries) Eleven years later, I replaced them with the new silicone implants. (Fourth surgery) No warnings from doctors. No information about having to get screenings or replace them often. No information whatsoever. And my surgeon didn’t even register me with the Mentor. Yet I had a serial number. So that meant ZERO FOLLOW UP REGARDING SYMPTOMS.

This December marks my 2 year Explantversary. I removed the implants and went flat. (5th surgery) Besides the enormous mental toll this took, I was slowly dying. I mean DYING. I was hospitalized more than several times with sepsis and illness. I even had to postpone the surgery because I was again hospitalized. So I took a giant leap of faith on that day in December. And as you can see from my pictures, I am slowly getting better. Recovery is not quick. It takes a long [email protected] time to recover from 23 years of toxic chemicals in my body. But I am getting better every day.

Welcoming in the weekend with open arms! After a crazy week, I plan to spend time organizing my art closet (because it looks like a tornado) and working on some commission pieces due next month. Sounds kind of lame but I love when we have down time. And you gotta do what you gotta do! Anyone else have fun things planned?

What WORLD do you want to build❔BUT Wait!! Before you answer, I want to tell you a true story about my mom. 💗

My mom was just 29 years old and pregnant when she found out she had a lump in her breast. I was 3 years old at the time and my mom was 8 months pregnant with my sister. After my sister was born on 10/21/70, my beautiful mom spent her 30th birthday in the hospital. Forever the optimist, she went to sleep thinking she was having a lumpectomy at the very worst.

However… she woke up to the news that she had stage 3 breast cancer that had spread to more than 10 lymph nodes. Imagine the shock of having the doctor say he had to perform a radical mastectomy to save her life. And they didn’t do reconstruction back then. She was now massively disfigured and the doctor said she would have to go through radiation and other treatments as well. All this with 3 little girls at home under 5 years of age, the youngest being one month old.

What incredible courage & strength it must have taken her to battle this disease at such a young age! All while having 3 small kids. She handled this like she handled most things… with grit and grace. She could’ve hid from the world and stayed under the covers in tears. Not my mom.

She counseled other women and decided she was going to sell prosthetics. She had this awesome box of bo***es in every size and color. My sisters and I loved to run around the house with the biggest ones on our heads.

When my mom developed lymphedema in her arm, she decided to start a lymphedema support group. She faced challenges like these by helping others. She BUILT a better world.

❔❔So now, I ask you… what world do you want to build? You have a choice. We all do. Will you just curl up and cry or will you change the narrative so that your knowledge can help others?

I choose to help others. Be it through my art, my ability to spread awareness or just by being the best hand holder I can be. I choose to build a better tomorrow. 💗

Strength is not necessarily something you can see or measure. It’s also not something that remains constant. There are days we feel energized, focused and in control. But, there are also days we feel scattered, disorganized and completely wiped out.

So how do YOU measure strength? Is it measured by the number of miles you run or the weights you are able to lift? Or is it measured by your ability to get through the toughest of days and find the rainbow after the storm?

In my opinion, strength means one’s ability to just show up. Whatever that may look like. Imperfect and raw and many times, emotionally drained. Just show up as BEST you can. Welcome in the day however you can. Find little miracles in your surroundings. Maybe it’s just opening the blinds, noticing the flowers blooming, the leaves changing or even opening the front door and smelling fresh air. The most important thing is to find a way to do anything that brings you JOY. 💗 And while we are at it, let’s try to manifest a better day for tomorrow. Today, do one thing today that makes you feel good. Could be to tell someone you love them. Or just receiving others’ love .

Strength isn’t about how much you can handle before you break. It’s about how much you can endure after you’ve been broken. May this week be a good one for you!

MEN GET BREAST CANCER TOO?? Cancer does not discriminate. Think about it… All people are born with some breast cells and tissue. But many people do not realize that MEN have risks too. While the risk is much less than in women, "The rate has gone up 25%, and it’s estimated about 2,650 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in men in 2021.”

Men can inherit the BRCA1 & BRCA2 genes. With a positive gene, their overall risk is less than females with the same gene, but men do not get mammograms and OFTEN will ignore a lump and wait months before going to a doctor.

Those signs include:

•Swelling of all or part of the •breast
•Skin irritation or pain
•Nipple turning inward or sharp pain in ni***es
•Redness, thickening of the ni**le or breast skin or dimpling, like the skin of an orange
•Lumps in the chest or in the underarm area

If you notice any of these signs, talk to your provider. In cases of early detection, breast cancer is treatable and often curable.

If you have parents, grandparents or siblings who have had breast cancer, your chances of having it are higher. Knowledge is power!
