I have always been passionate about the natural world and have a deep connection and respect for the outdoors.

The scenes I share reflect my love for nature and our wild places. Whether it is a mountainside of fiery autumn color, or a soft coating of freshly fallen snow, the light that falls on the Earth’s landscape is constantly changing, making each and every moment unique. Some may consider me "self taught" in the art of photography, but I feel I have had many great teachers. Spending complete days i

Today is "Earth Day". It is a day to bring awareness into our lives about how the things we do can affect our environment. The goal however, is to celebrate Earth Day, not just today, but every day. Not one of us can fix the problems we face alone. Together, by making better choices each day, we can make a world of difference.

Whether it is what you buy, where it was made or grown, or if you really need it in the first place. Re-use things. Use less. Elect officials to government who understand the global issues, and will work urgently to make changes that are long overdue.

Please join me in my continuous effort to make good choices in what we do each day, and remember that our future, our children's futures, on every continent around the world, depend on what we decide and the actions we take, today, and every day. Let's take care of each other.

Peace,
Corey

My last outdoor show of the season never fails to disappoint, and like clockwork, nature always reminds us why it is the last. It is almost always chilly and fall-like, and on weekends like this, a bit snowy! Yes, this is the top of my show tent at 9 am this morning.❄️

It was great to see some of your smiling faces at the White Mountain Arts Festival in Jackson, NH over the weekend. I have lost track of how long I have been at this show... 8 or 9 years now, I think. The great atmosphere, and seeing so many old friends, customers and fellow artisans make it extra special, and my display there reflects my love for this show. The setting just can't be beat, with the geese honking in the pond, the Wildcat River just a few steps away for a quick dip to cool off, and great music filling the air. Jackson is where I first began selling my work a decade ago, at the Jackson Farmers Market. It is a pleasure and a privilege to keep this great little town in my roots.

Happy Independence Day to all of you! If you are in North Conway for the parade, fireworks, or Conway's 250th celebration (or any other reason), stop by the Gibson Center for Senior Services, Inc. Fourth of July Craft Fair. There will be many vendors (myself included). Find local crafts and goods, USA made products, and support local businesses on this holiday! A NHDOT Bridge Maintenance crew will start repair work next week on the S**o River Covered Bridge that was struck by a hit and run truck driver. The oversize load took out 15 "knee braces" that need to be replaced on the 125 year old bridge. The bridge will be closed to traffic during daytime hours for 10 days. http://www.nh.gov/dot/media/nr2015/nr-2015-04-20-saco-bridge-repair.htm

As many of you turn pages of calendars to March, if you happen to have my edition of the "White Mountains, New Hampshire" calendar, this is the scene you will be opening. I captured this one back in 2008, in the forest along the Kancamagus Highway. It is a feeling of deep winter, with many layers of deep snow. March is a transition month, and the snows of the mountains will remain for some time yet. There is the hope of spring in the air however, as the days get longer, and the sun just a bit warmer, slowly doing its best to melt the snow to fill the ponds and rivers, and awaken the spring wildflowers. While it is still bitterly cold, and snow storms continue, the frozen birches wait, the beech leaves still cling to the branches, slowly fading and dropping one by one, promising new green growth, even if it is still many weeks away. The birds are getting restless, as they are beginning there plans for warmer days. My morning walk with Scruffy today was filled with the cheerful notes of their songs. Welcome March!

An extra thank you to all who purchased a 2014 Scruffy's Friends Ornament. We were able to donate $145 from the sales to the Conway Area Humane Society! (We still have a few of these left, if anyone is interested, and we plan on making a 2015 edition, as well).

Scruffy and Corey stopped by to give us a donation from the Scruffy ornament in memory of William Lloyd Garrison. Scruffy was adopted a couple of years ago from CAHS after being abandoned in a box on a hiking trail.

This is it!! Last Call for Christmas delivery!

If you need an order shipped, please place it TODAY! Depending on where the packages are going, and the method used, there may still be time to get to you in time for Christmas after today, but no promises!

Also, I would like to give a huge "thank you" to all who have ordered from me and other artisans this year. Your shopping "small, local, and independent" makes a huge difference in each of our lives, and enables many of us to follow our passion, and make dreams come true.

Best to all,
Corey

From Ashburn, Virginia, we have a two-fer! Scruffy is the first ornament on the tree, and it looks like he is overseeing the new year's calendar as well. Thank you to our friend, Janice Hummel, for sending this photo! :)

Thanksgiving is now in our rear view mirror, yesterday was "Black Friday", today is Small Business Saturday, and while every day is a "Small Business Day" for anyone who owns or works for one, I want to take a moment to say thanks. Thank you to so many individuals for buying my artwork. To the many gift shops for carrying my products, and in turn, supporting my small business, as I do my best to support so many others. Thank you to all of my suppliers and vendors. Every link in this chain matters, whether it is mat board, frames, packaging, labels, calendar printing, art show coordinators...I could go on and on and it all ties together. Thank you to Carrie, my wife, and my friend Jessica Cann, for helping when things get so busy that I can't keep my own head on straight. I couldn't do this without each and every one of you!
Thank you,
Corey

We started off with sunshine, however, by late morning the rain started and kept us in a bit more confined, and a bit of mud on our feet. If you hid from the rain today, be sure to come out and see my work tomorrow, at the North Conway Community Center. I will be there from 10-4. There are lots of great gift ideas from many different artists and crafters. Beat the holiday rush, and buy local gift products! Don't forget your warm clothes...it is going to be chilly!

10/15/2014

While other work continues to back up, I have been unable to resist, and have continued shooting in many locations this foliage season, as new waves of color have emerged. New areas to the south of the White Mountains are now reaching peak colors. One popular location that has been skipped over this year by myself and others, is Lower Falls of the Swift River, along the Kancamagus Highway. The area has been closed all summer and fall due to the reconstruction of the parking and recreation area. As I am sure many people have been disappointed by this, I thought I would share this image from 2012. (Olympus OM1N, Fuji chrome Velvia 50 ISO/35mm) As always, please share if you like it. Thank you!

10/07/2014

I have dedicated an incredible amount of time and miles on the road and out in the woods shooting this year, as the foliage in the White Mountains was just unbelievable, and, as it usually is, unbelievably quick. There is still plenty of color, but the peak reds have mostly faded and fallen to the ground. There are so many places I wish I could have had time to explore, and if all goes well, there will still be a few more to visit as the leaves continue to progress. My passion for film does not easily satisfy the "instant" online world, and as it will likely be some time before I am able to scan and process images from this year, here is one from 2008 (another fantastic foliage year) the heart of the Kancamagus Highway, a little below the Pass. Kancamagus Highway, White Mountains, NH (2008), Olympus OM1N, Fujichrome Velvia 50.

09/26/2014

If any photographers out there use a Lee Filter holder, do take note that if the spring loaded brass button pulls off in your hand (causing the entire filter assembly to instantly plummet from your lens) be sure to find all the parts. The most difficult is likely to be the spring itself, as it vanishes instantly into the autumn leaves and other mucky debris at your feet.
It goes back together very easily, after a few choice words, and only after all parts have been found.
