A revised recommendation for jewelry repair and design: The Tucker Company on the 5th floor of the Mallers Bldg at 5 South Wabash (near the SE corner of Madison/Wabash)
He designs, repairs, and has a very interesting, eclectic range of jewelry for sale, plus the advantage of access to brands or items he doesn’t have on hand. He is ethical, friendly, with an appreciation for all things artistic.

After receiving a few messages, a reminder to past customers to check out Stanley Brown Jewelist, in Lincoln Square between Lawrence and Wilson. They come very highly recommended by a workman I trust completely. They do jewelry and watch repair, including custom work.

Those of you planning to visit our pop up shop, plan on enjoying a Chicken Teriyaki box lunch being served upstairs! And then take in the Ravenswood Art Walk, on both sides of the Ravenswood parkway from Berteau to Wilson!

Friends! Join us during Ravenswood Art Walk weekend Sept. 14 & 15! we will serve Chicken Teriyaki (secret recipe!) with rice and Japanese style pickles $10. Bake sale and Grandma's Attic/Yard Sale too!
Ursa Ensemble will perform in our historic sanctuary on Sunday Sept. 15 at 12:30pm. See you there!

FYI. To those of you despairing about jewelry repair services, I received a strong recommendation from a very skilled and reliable source that Stanley Brown Jewelist in Lincoln Square is an extremely reputable and fair establishment. I've sent out a message to them through the ether inquiring about his services, but from his website, it looks like he does it all. The watch service I've already recommended is also reliable, but it does require you to travel downtown, so you might prefer to check this place out.

Warning, schmaltz ahead. The day of our store's closing, I was too caught up in the relentless cycle of business, the repairs that had to be finished and delivered, the sales, the phone calls, the chatter. I fielded and absorbed the good byes and well wishes, the treats, the cards,(thank you all, by the way) but there was no time for emotion to register completely. Today I've spent hours beginning the task of sorting old job envelopes that have to be disposed of; the first of thousands of jobs with names familiar and not, which housed some items more intrinsically valuable than others, but all precious to their owners. And suddenly my vision is blurry and my heart is in my throat, and I am amazed and touched by all who put their trust in us to care for their precious pieces. Little did my parents know in '48 that their legacy would last 71 years. Thank you all for allowing us the honor and pleasure.

As of Aug 31, Midori Market will close its doors. For those of you who have repairs you've neglected to pick up, never fear; we will be contacting you within the month to make arrangements for their return.

We will be back with a little "Pop-up" shop in our church during the Ravenswood Art Walk, Sept 14 & 15, from 12-3, showing selected merchandise, and we'd love to see you there.
(Our church is also sponsoring a Chicken Teriyaki Box Lunch, which is a real taste treat)

We are so grateful to all who have helped us realize our dream of carrying on my parents' legacy, but with our own special passion for fair trade merchandise. You have made our business possible these past four years, and we have loved being here, but now we look forward to our retirement years. Thank you so much for being Midori supporters ❤️
