The FedEx website states, "As of June 28, 2022, your driver will scan your driver’s license or government-issued ID to verify your age. The scanner captures only the standard info that’s necessary for all signature deliveries: the first initial of your first name and your full last name. It does not record or store any of your personal data, such as driver’s license number, birthdate, or home address.

If you decline to have your ID scanned, the driver will need to verify your age by manually entering your birthdate, the first initial of your first name, and your last name. Either way, you’ll need to have your ID ready."

I decline to give my state-issued ID to anyone who rolls into my driveway with a box. When my regular drivers (UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, etc.) deliver, we are all good. However, recently, there have been many 'new' drivers. In the past day or so, a new FedEx/FedEx Ground driver brought three packages and asked to see my ID. I declined and offered my birthdate and name. He said that was not sufficient. I did not refuse to take the packages. He refused to give them to me. He left without delivering the packages.

Before he left the driveway, I called the FedEx folks in Staunton. I explained, and he said they would look into it and get back to me. The FedEx Staunton folks called back and said the driver was new and they would reroute the packages back to me (it may not be the same day).

I received a call from a customer today telling me that his package was returned to Brownells, Inc. I explained what happened, and I apologized for the inconvenience. I tried calling the FedEx Staunton folks, but it went to voicemail.

If the new normal is that I have to give my state-issued ID every time I receive a package for a transfer, CAG will stop doing transfers. I will work with FedEx to try to resolve this issue. If it cannot be resolved, I will let you know when we will stop accepting fi****ms for transfer.

I wish the world wasn't how it is, but here we are.

On some guns (this is a G***k 40 Gen4 in 10mm), the red dot plate screws breach the extractor bar holes. So filling the screw holes with Loctite is not the correct action. The excess Loctite drains into the extractor bar hole and dries. This locks up the extractor.

You only need a single small drop on the threads.

"In the November 2009 FFL Newsletter, ATF advised that a firearm with a pistol grip in lieu of the shoulder stock is not designed to be fired from the shoulder and, therefore, is not a shotgun. Since it is a firearm “other than a rifle or shotgun,” the purchaser must be 21 years of age or older."

Is this the final word on this, or has the ATF reversed itself?

I take great pride and enjoyment in the gunsmithing work that I do day in and day out; however, it occasionally feels overwhelming. No matter how much work is accomplished the guns keep coming – often at a rate faster than they can be completed. While that can be great for business, it can also result in long turnaround times and missed deadlines.

Effective 18 Nov 2022 the gunsmithing book is closed until I catch up. I do not know when exactly this will be.

I will continue to handle gun transfers (including private party transfers) via appointment which will be scheduled in blocks in an effort to leave as much time as possible for uninterrupted gunsmithing work.

I will also keep helping with safety issues. If you have an unsafe condition (stuck live round, etc.) with a gun, contact us and we will do what is necessary to bring the gun back to a safe condition.

I appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our valued customers.

Sincerely,
Patrick Heraghty

Does anyone have a line on an available set of original owl head grips for an Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works, Safety Automatic, Revolver, in 32 S&W?
Any help would be really appreciated. At this point, I am even interested in a set I can borrow so I can make a mold to make another set from.

In search of a Magazine Throat for a 20 gauge Wi******er 1400.
I am looking for the one in the lower left corner NOT the one in the one in the upper right corner.
The design changed at serial number 400,000. The one I am in search of is above 400k.
The one in the picture is what i got from super gluing the pieces back together. If this appeal doesn’t work, I may have to try and model it and ask my oldest son to 3d print one. I pray someone can save me from that.
I have checked with every obsolete parts dealer I know of and few I just learned about. Yes, that includes eBay. I have found many 12 gauge and many 16 gauge but the 20 gauge is proving elusive.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Who can hear this image?

The slight gasp when the bit breaks. The holding of your breath until you know the tip didn't ‘weld’ itself into the head of the screw. The sigh when you realize that was the last one you have in that size—time to make an order.

My wife and I voted earlier today. If you live in Virginia, and you haven't voted yet, get off your but and get it done.
If you come into the shop for the rest of the year, you will be asked if you voted. If the answer is no, expect to be abused with extreme prejudice.

Dear Valued Customer:

I take great pride and enjoyment in the gunsmithing work that I do day in and day out; however, it occasionally feels overwhelming. No matter how much work is accomplished the guns keep coming – often at a rate faster than they can be completed. While that can be great for business, it can also result in long turnaround times and missed deadlines.

Effective 1 Aug 2021 the gunsmithing book is closed until I catch up. I do not know when exactly this will be, but it will be in 2022.

We will continue to handle gun transfers (including private party transfers) via appointment which will be scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays. This leaves the remaining days for uninterrupted gunsmithing work.

I appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
