Bridgeport Fish Report - May 03, 2026
East Walker River
The East is running at about 100 cfs today, the flows have been going up and down a bit this past week but the changes haven't seemed to have too much affect on the fishing. Overall the reports coming have been pretty good up there with most anglers reporting having good days, mostly on nymphs with a little streamer action thrown in. The Mile section has been producing pretty well with not so much large numbers of fish as large fish, most of the reports from that section have been from anglers getting into between 3 and 7 or 8 fish per day with the average size being 18 or 19 inches. It sounds like most of the fish that have moved back into the Mile are larger fish. The lower sections and on into Nevada have been producing more fish but not as many 20 inchers as up above. Some patterns to try: perdigon, rainbow warrior, silver streak, darth baetis, zebra midge, flashback emerger, psycho prince, squirmy wormy, jig head worm, San Juan worm, sculpzilla, ziwi, double bunny, dead drift crayfish.
Sceirine Ranch
The ranch has also been kicking out some very good fish this past week with brown and rainbows up to around 23" being reported. They're still eating some stonefly nymphs on the ranch as well as most of the smaller nymphs mentioned above. The streamer action has been ok on the ranch but most of the action has been with nymphs.
Bridgeport Reservoir
The Res has still been producing lots of nice fish with the largest of the week that we know of being almost 8.5 pounds. There is still some good shore action with inflated crawlers, mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait. The trolling is hanging in there with crawlers, needlefish, Thomas Bouyants and Rapalas and there's some decent action over near Rainbow Point bait fishing as well.
Kirman Lake
We haven't heard anything from Kirman yet but will be sure to pass on any info we receive.
Twin Lakes
We're seeing some good fish from the Twins this week as well and there was a 9+ pound brown caught not he lower lake as well this past week! Some of the action has been from the shore with pinched crawlers, mice tails and inflated crawlers as well as casting Rapalas and Thomas Buoyants in the mornings and evenings. Trollers are using needlefish, Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants and speedy shiners.
West Walker River
We still haven't heard much news from the West lately, if you have spent some time up there and would like to give us a report give us a call!
Virginia Lakes
We haven't heard much news from the Virginias lately, it sounds like the ice is still trying to melt all the way, there is some fishable water up there but we haven't heard much for good action. As the weather warms up and the ice melts all the way things should get better up there.

California Boater Card
I had a customer call asking if they needed a California Boater Card if they are not a resident of California, I didn't know the answer at the time but I looked it up, here is the wording in the FAQ section of www.californiaboatercard.com :
According to California law the following persons are not required to have a boater card to operate a motorized vessel on California waterways:
A person operating a rental vessel.
A person operating a vessel while under the direct supervision of a person 18 years of age or older who is in possession of a California Boater Card.
A person who is a resident of a state other than California who is temporarily operating a vessel in California for less than 60 days and meets the boating requirements, if any, of his/her state.
A person who is a resident of a country other than the United States who is temporarily operating a vessel in California for less than 90 days and meets the boating requirements, if any, of his/her country.
A person operating a vessel in an organized regatta or vessel race, or water ski race.
A person who is in possession of a current commercial fishing license.
A person who is in possession of a valid marine operator license, for the waters upon which the licensee is operating, issued by the United States Coast Guard, or who is in possession of a valid certificate issued pursuant to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended.
A person who has successfully completed a boating course approved by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training Post.
Hope this helps clear up some questions!
