Handmade skis made in Maine. High performance east coast skis. Sustainably made with local materials. All Lucid Skis are made using a vertically laminated ash and bass wood core with hornbeam, hickory, rock maple or black locust sidewalls. We use only woods that grow plentifully in Maine and are sourced from local sawyers. Each of these woods are selected for their specific characteristics. Ash, h
igh strength to weight ratio and very flexable with good memory. Bass wood, very lightweight, flexible with tight closed grain so it wont soak up to much epoxy. The woods used for the side walls are flexible and extremely hard. Combined these woods make up the heart of a ski that is lively, stable, light weight and has exceptional edge hold. The core is sandwiched between two layers of triaxial fiberglass. The bases are standard p-tex and the edges high carbon, hardened steel. The top sheet is beautiful native rock maple veneer or can be custom ordered. Every pair is finished with U.V. protective marine clear-coat, wet sanded and wax polished. The Lucid medallion on the tail is real gold leaf. We use a pneumatic press for our glue up process. We have three models... Cannon 125mm tip 92mm waist 111mm tail, Trip 125mm tip 92mm waist 111mm tail and Harvester 137mm tip 105 waist 123 tail. All share the same versatile all mountain average turn radius of 12.3 meters. Each model also utilizes a slight early taper tip and tail for a bit more float on un-groomed slopes. The Cannon is the stiffest model designed for aggressive skiers, charging steeps at high speeds in all conditions. The Cannon can be ordered with traditional camber or with tip and tail rocker. The Trip is a softer version of the Cannon designed for back country touring and the average skier looking for a go to all conditions ski. The Harvester is designed for the ultimate powder experience with the versatility to be enjoyed in all conditions.
