This one came a long way. From Jeff Lang and myself talking about a good idea and drawing a crude soapstone picture on the shop floor at work to the finished blade you see pictured on it's stand. We talked about a knife that was brutal, crude, beautiful and deadly..... A seax automatically came to mind. We talked about leaving the forge scale on the flats of the blade with hammer marks and making the blade look old and burning the handle so it looked like someone pulled a piece of wood out of the fire and said "hey this will make a good handle". I first drew up the plans for the seax. It looked like any seax I had seen so far, but that was the problem it looked generic. So I drew some curves cause EVERYTHING looks better with curves. When Jeff saw the drawing and loved it I took off. The blade is ALL hand forged 1095, the handle is burned black limba. The blade has hand forged Anglo Saxon runes for Lang. If you only knew how hard it was to make intentional hammer marks and burns and make them look random.
