Zorbas Orphans Fund is joining the fight against world poverty by intervening in the lives of these orphans at this critical juncture. Our overarching vision, according to Jeremiah 29:11, is to provide these orphans and vulnerable youths with the hope and the great future and to bring them to that prosperous end that God desires for them to have. Our Founder and President travels to these countries at least once a year and personally interviews and selects orphans who demonstrate the capability to attain secondary education, university education and vocational education and skills training. Our criteria for selection is that these orphans we educate must demonstrate leadership potential and express the desire to make a contribution to the socio economic development of the countries in which they live. Based on their educational level, we would do one of the following, enroll them in a full boarding secondary school, send them to a skills training or vocational educational training school, or support them with at least two years of university education. In addition to formal education Zorbas Orphan Fund appreciate the value of mentoring so through our Zorba’s Christ Centered Mentoring Program, we provide each of our orphans and vulnerable youths with a Mentor from their native country. This Mentor provide our orphans with the accountability, emotional and spiritual support they so desperately need to succeed as they go through school.

You will agree with me that empowering a mind for the future is very costly everywhere in the world. It costs $85.00 a month to provide secondary education, lodging, books and food to one of our orphans. This might sound as a lot to you but Zorbas Orphan Fund does not only give scholarships to our orphans. We are committed to provide four years of full secondary education, books, and living accommodation to all our orphans. For those orphans who have completed high school, we are committed to providing them with 3 years vocational education and 2 years university education to the ones who demonstrate the potential to attend university.

Welcome to our Zorba's Orphan

Since Zorbas Orphans Fund started three years ago, our concentration has been on Africa because that is where my late husband was working when he lost his life in a car accident while he was at work for the World Bank in Tanzania, empowering the minds of orphans and vulnerable children. The vision for Zorbas Orphans Fund was born out of the pain of that tragedy. However, when we founded the organization, our vision was always broader than Africa. We are committed to impact the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in the Latin America and the Caribbean and more we felt the nudging of the Holy Spirit to reach out to the orphans and vulnerable children right here in the USA. Visit our website www.zorbasorphansfund.org and learn more about the difference we are making in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children and make a commitment to partner with us to empower more minds for the future.

Zorba's Orphans Fund is a non-profit organization committed to empower orphans in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean between the ages of 14 and 25, particularly those who have lost their parents through HIV/AIDS.

We will partner with established orphanages and non-profit organizations to provide financial aid to these organizations thereby giving an opportunity to orphans to obtain post secondary, sports, and spiritual education. Zorbas Orphans Fund is seeking to partner with individuals, foundations and organizations that have the same vision as we have: to empower the minds of orphans and vulnerable children in the USA, Africa Latin America and the Caribbean. We realize that we could reach out to more orphans through partnerships than working alone. We believe that in order for youths to be able to take care of themselves during their adult years, to negotiate at a higher level in society and to contribute to the socio economic development of their countries, they need to be educated. I am sure you must have heard it said countless times that knowledge is power. At Zorbas Orphans Fund, we believe that people perish for lack of knowledge. Knowledge ensures a better quality of life than ignorance does. As Founder and President, I have seen people perishing for lack of knowledge in the Caribbean and I have seen it in my extensive travels throughout Lain America and Africa. Education has made a big difference in my own life as well Growing up in the Caribbean. I was a vulnerable child at risk of being sexually abused and physically abused because of my vulnerability. Thanks be to Almighty God who gave me a strong Grand Mother who shielded me from such abuse and who committed her life to educating me. Indeed, without a basic secondary school education, my story would have been different. . I could have perished from lack of knowledge through formal education and a higher degree of learning. In Zorbas view, a sound secondary, vocational or university education, plain and simple, is the gateway to human development and socio economic empowerment. No one should be exempted because of their cultural, racial or socio economic condition and that includes orphans and vulnerable youths right here in the USA, in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
