ART GLASS is an item that is made, generally as an artwork for decoration but often also for utility, from glass, sometimes combined with other materials. Techniques include stained glass windows, glass that has been placed into a kiln so that it will mould into a shape, glassblowing, sandblasted glass, and copper-foil glasswork. In general the term is restricted to relatively modern pieces made by people who see themselves as artists who have chosen to work in the medium of glass. Studio glass is another term often used for modern glass made for artistic purposes.

We’re almost there! Today, the furniture got set into place, some of the collectibles were arranged, and the art was hung. Tomorrow, the room will receive its finishing touches, then the Asian art and collectibles room will have its grand opening!

We’re making steady progress on our Asian art room! Furniture has been added, the Asian inspired lamps have been gathered, we’ve begun to hang the embroidered silks and carved panels, and things are falling into place. If you visit our store this Saturday or Sunday during the Old Town Sidewalk Sale, you’ll have the opportunity to see our amazing selection of Asian art presented together in the same room!

Well, the work on the second floor center room that will feature our Asian collectibles is progressing nicely. All of our beautiful cloisonné is now displayed in one cabinet! The Asian dish ware is being arranged in a spacious open glass display where both Japanese and Chinese are situated next to each other for your convenience.

Next up — rearranging the rest of the room!
