Artist of the week is newly juried artisan: Isaac Hylton from Vansant, VA! Isaac started welding when he was 10 years old when he went to work with his dad on Saturday’s. Since then, he has been hooked. All of his working career has had some affiliation with welding. He feels that it is in his blood and a part of who he is. Artist of the Week is newly juried artisan: Henri de Hahn from Christiansburg, VA. Henri was born in Montreal, Canada, moved to Vienna, Austria at a young age, and at age 9 to Switzerland. He was eventually trained as an architect there before moving to New York City. It was when he was offered to join the faculty of architecture at the University of Kentucky that he discovered Folk Art. Fast-forward 20 years, a move to Virginia via California, and an unexpected storm that covered his lawn with tree limbs birthed the Folk Art Snake. Artisan of the week is: Norma Robinson from Nickelsville, VA. Norma’s crafts include a mixture of country, primitive, folk art, and a big punch of whimsy, as she says. She uses homespun, tea stained muslin and sometimes vintage quilts of fabric. She says, “it’s nice to know something you make with your own two hands will bring a smile or laugh to someone”. Stop by to see Norma’s work on display.

Artist(s) of the Week is: Ron & Susan Sutterer of Frog Hollow Pottery from Floyd, VA! Their interest in ceramics developed while touring the traditional potteries in North Carolina in the late 60’s while in graduate school. Over the years, they both took up ceramics, and while sometimes frustrating, it has provided an endless avenue for refinement of craftsmanship and development of style. Ron currently works with functional stoneware and porcelain vessels, and Susan focuses on decorative items for the home and garden. Stop by to see their eye catching work on display! 👀😍

We MUST sell 51 tickets to bring this to Roanoke. Please share and consider reserving a ticket. Reserve tickets at this link: https://gathr.us/screening/23009#.Wqh5BwLkCAg.facebook #BeHereTomorrow. A suicide takes place every 40 seconds. At age 19, Kevin Hines attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. Seventeen years later, he still struggles with many of the same symptoms that led him to attempt to take his life, but he is on a mission to use his story to help others stay alive. Across the globe, nearly 1 million people die annually by suicide. In the United States alone there are one million suicide attempts in a given year and over 40,000 deaths by suicide, with our military being hit particularly hard. Research has shown that for every one death by suicide, over 115 people are directly affected and impacted. The estimated financial cost of suicide is over 40 billion dollars annually. People around the globe are uniting and responding to calls for change with the goal of having a tremendous positive impact on reducing the number of suicides and suicide attempts around the world. #BeHereTomorrow.
A bunch of friends and I went to Heartwood for burger and bingo tonite. Last week we ordered a burger and a small amount of fries came with it at no extra charge. This week, several ordered the same thing. When we were given our bills, some had a $3.00 charge for french fries. A friend told them he got 7 fries and was charged $3,00. They insisted those that were charged the $3.00 would have to pay for the fries or the police would be called! Also, I took a set of slotted bingo cards and a deck of cards to use last week and left them at Heartwood. This week we were told they would not use them because of the liability???? I asked them if I donated them, could we use them and they said no. I won't be at burger and bingo next Monday
