Great to hear Guy Machin of Barton Grange Landscapes making the switch to battery powered tools!

At Barton we have been running teams with traditional diesel powered vans and battery powered tools for around 6 years.

We’ve tried various inverters and liesure batteries to charge on the go, most of which were unsuccessful long term and have mainly had to charge tool batteries overnight at the depot.

Then came the green dawn!

What we wanted, what we needed, was to equip this van out 100% electric.
The idea was to be completely sustainable from a charging perspective, charge the van = charge the tool batteries.

EGO were kind enough to offer us an extended trial of their newly developed Pro-X equipment range. They kitted the van out with tools for a full mobile team including, batteries, inverter, absolutely everything we needed.

After an initial bedding in period getting used to the tools, the charging cycles and travel distance, we started gathering some data.

And the good news…….the kit is fantastic and it works!!!

- When the van is plugged in on charge, the EGO batteries charge
- When the team are driving between sites, the EGO batteries charge
- Even when the team are working on site, the van can charge depleted batteries to keep the equipment fully powered during the course of the day

This solution has been used on a widely varied circuit including some longer trips to North Cumbria as well as more local sites, and it has absolutely proved that electric+electric can and does work.
