Yvonne is a sustainable designer passionate about creating environmentally friendly designs onto natural fabrics, which are produced through a combined ecological and environmental ethos.
Using nature without damage and a zero waste goal her practice is deliberate and considered. Walking across the local cliffs Yvonne sources leaves, stones maybe pieces of disregarded metal, anything of interest which are then later used to imprint on pure silk making her original designs. The mordents are also sourced naturally using an iron-enriched rock, a rusty disregarded tin can or parts from an old vintage motorcycle. There is a huge connection with the environment and she thinks carefully of what is used whether it is the amount of water or energy.
Her enthusiasm for creating such diverse, serendipitous unique fabrics has initiated many investigations into colour and eco contact printing. Yvonne also works with cyanotype, recycled fabrics and camera-less photography. Her designs are then interpreted into scarves and many other applications.
