I threw these on Wednesday, and I think they might be ready to get handled today. I’m figuring out the drying times slowly, just like my pots. All the rain we get might have something to do with it, or maybe it’s the sea surrounding me. Either way, Isle of Lewis drying times are not the same as southern Ontario drying times.
I’m learning 🤷🏽‍♀️

Third round of glaze tests, and we have a colour palette!! I still want to play around with them a little bit, but I think it’s a great start.
Which one is your favourite?
Do you think they go together???

What’s your guess?

Officially have the first glazed finished pots out of the kiln.
I’m wishing I paid more attention during glaze chem class… sorry 😅
But there are definitely some winners in this batch, I’m going to make a few tweaks to some and make some bigger batches of others and hopefully they turn out the same. Science was never my favourite subject but here we are, and you know what, it’s not so bad anymore!
Now to do the next batch.

It’s mind boggling to think back 6 years and see where I am today. So much has changed and developed. I’m becoming the person I’ve always wanted to be and doing the things I’ve always wanted to do. It hasn’t always been easy, but it is worth it. This is your reminder to step out your front door, go out into the world and be the person you want to be.

6 years ago I was graduating university in the middle of a global pandemic moving back into my parents house (thank you). Didn’t have dreams or plans, just making it to the next day.

Now, I’m building (thank you husband) a pottery studio in a little village on the Isle of Lewis. I’m going to make pottery for people to love and enjoy in there everyday little moments. And I’m so excited to see what’s next.

‘It’s a dangerous business, going out your front door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

So, are you going to step out your front door today?
