Author event - join us at Waystone Books for an evening with Clare Coghill, Skye local, owner of Café Cùil and author of the Café Cùil Cookbook!

If you're a keen cook, a lover of delicious food, or want to learn about Clare's journey to opening a resturant and publishing a cookbook, join us on Tuesday the 19th May at 6:30pm at Waystone Books.

If you're anything like the team here at Waystone, you wait for Café Cùil's opening date each year and drool over their seasonal menus whenever they're announced. Pancakes adorned with delightful seasonal toppings are a stalwart of the menu, alongside delicious soups, toasties, and tasty meals like veggie fritters or shakshuka. We can't wait to spend some time with Clare and learn more about her work and the cookbook!

This event will take place in the bookshop with an in-person audience. Doors open at 6:15pm so you can purchase a coffee (we have decaf!), tea or the like before the event.

We'll open with a bit of a discussion with Clare Coghill, followed by an open Q+A. There will be some lovely nibbles straight from the kitchen of Café Cùil.

We might be mostly a book and coffee sort of establishment here at Waystone, but as we're also a team of stationery lovers we couldn't help but stock the shop with a small selection of other bits too!

We've recently introduced Pigeons in the shop, an awesome origami-inspired letter and envelope in one. Each pack contains six Pigeons, so is six letters just waiting to come into being.

We also have some pens and markers, notebooks, reading journals and planners.

May is going to be a busy month at Waystone (and for the Waystone team outside of work, so pardon our inevitable frazzledness)!

We've got our usual Wednesday clubs on in May. These are live to book on our website now, so if you're keen to attend please do grab a ticket.

We also have the second iteration of the Dunvegan Community Session hosted by Cae on Sunday the 17th - no booking required, just turn up with or without an instrument, to join in or just soak up the amazing music.

Caroline's cooking up some plans for Independent Bookshop week in June - we've got a load of lovely author talks and book-y events lining up!

Also taking the opportunity to soak up some sun! Early starts at the shop are feeling very luxurious at the moment with beautiful sun pouring in the windows.

Hot chocolate 😍

We use Bare Bones Chocolate for our hot chocolates here at Waystone. Bare Bones is a micro-batch, bean to bar chocolate company based in Glasgow. We have dark (70% Madagascan) and milk (47% Dominican) choccy on offer. Also delicious as a mocha!

And at the eleventh hour - our April events calendar!

We’ve got our Wednesday evening clubs on, starting with book club tomorrow evening. We’ve made the decision to institute bookings for Wednesday clubs so we can cap numbers (the shop is only teeny after all!), so please book via our website if you want to attend.

We are also introducing a £5 ticket price for evening clubs, including a hot drink of your choice on the night. This is so we can make sure we cover staff and utilities costs to keep the space open. We appreciate your patience with us as we figure out the best way to offer clubs and events at Waystone.

Also on this month is the first Dunvegan Community Session. This will be a casual music session hosted and organised by Cae, starting from 4pm on Sunday the 12th. Drop by with your instrument of choice. All welcome, to participate or just to enjoy the vibe.

Memoir club is meeting tomorrow, Tuesday the 24th March, from 2pm-4pm, at Waystone Books in Dunvegan.

This will be an initial meeting of the group and all are welcome!
