“Brazil is getting ready to ban the sale of pernambuco wood and all objects containing it, which would massively affect the free circulation of bows and their production.

This move would have a direct impact on musicians travelling abroad; they would need to use bows of an inferior quality, and that would irrevocably affect the quality of the music transmitted.

We must urgently make our voices heard by signing the petition that we are sharing with you today. In doing so, we can have an impact on the decisions that will be taken during the CoP20 for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.”

When the Pražák Quartet visits Despiau Chevalets.
Instruments are living entities, and the bridge must constantly adapt to them. That's why musicians have their bridges examined by their bridgineers. Each instrument is fitted with a Despiau three-tree bridge, carefully selected to meet the specific requirements of each musician, while respecting the technical constraints of the instruments and the homogeneity of the quartet's sound. It's a great opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and learn from each other.
