This “Crescent” Falx sword has been completely hand forged from high quality spring steel for extra durability and sharpness even though the historical ones were made from soft iron. The whole blade has been completely forged to shape in order to preserve the aesthetics of the hammer mark so only the edges of the blade have been ground sharp. The back of the blade has been chiseled with a traditional triangle ornament. Blade has been heat treated and sharpened.
The falx was a weapon with a curved blade that was sharp on the inside edge used by the Thracians and Dacians during the ancient times of Romes aggressive expansions and it was feared and renowned by the legions who encountered it. The shapes and profiles varied very much from dagger sized to almost man height versions of the said weapon. This particular piece has been made as a nimble hand and a half version of the weapon which can be used either with a shield due to its light weight or with two hands if you need that extra punch. Both ways this particular blade packs a proper punch.
