With a heritage dating back more than 100 years, Rexall has evolved to become one of Canada’s most trusted pharmacy brands. Our history of helping Canadians has endured since the turn of the last century, through successive evolutions of Rexall and Rexall Pharma Plus from apothecary-type drugstores to the modern community pharmacies they are today. Rexall in Canada was established in 1904 in the early days of the United Drug Company and quickly established itself as an innovator in retail pharmacy. At the same time, Tamblyn Drugs was establishing itself in Toronto, Ontario, and would eventually become Pharma Plus. A lot may have changed over the years, but our commitment to helping Canadian families and communities be healthier has never been stronger; it continues to guide us as we look to the future and increase access to convenient, quality healthcare and products that Canadians can feel good about. Today, our more than 425 Rexall and Rexall Pharma Plus locations are supported by 8,600 staff, all dedicated to providing exceptional service and care in 180 communities across Canada. Rexall also operates Rexall Direct, Canada’s national mail-order pharmacy and Rexall Health Solutions, a division focused on providing highly specialized clinical care and complex medication management services in transitional care settings. Through awareness, compassion, and care, we can open up the dialogue and help those in need connect with valuable resources on their wellness journey. It’s Latin American Heritage Month and we are celebrating the vibrant culture, history, and diversity within Canada’s Latin community. Our Employee Resource Group (ERG), Aspire has put together many exciting events to commemorate this important time including a virtual employee-led panel discussion and tasty cuisine at our campus cafeterias, as well as book, movie, and music of the month selections. It’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month and we’re raising awareness and celebrating the meaningful contributions individuals with disabilities make in the workplace and beyond.

Our Employee Resource Group ABILITY will be showing support by acknowledging and promoting the contributions and inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace. This includes our employees wearing the colour burgundy on October 23rd, as well as sharing our own experiences.

Today marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, an important time to listen, learn, and reflect on our painful past and work towards healing and reconciliation. As part of our inclusion journey, and in direct response to Call to Action 92 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which calls on the corporate sector to act, all Rexall and McKesson employees have been offered complimentary access to the 4 Seasons Truth & Reconciliation training. This e-learning Professional Development workplace course includes a certificate of completion from First Nations University of Canada and offers diverse, authentic Indigenous voices from residential school survivors, community members, elders, youth, leaders, women, educators, and artists from regions across Canada. Additionally, earlier in the month, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation hosted daily lunch-and-learns that were shared with our team members to learn more about health related impacts of the residential school system, allyship, confronting unconscious bias, barriers to reconciliation, and more. Join us as we commemorate this day, wear orange in honour of the survivors, families, and communities affected by the residential school system, as well as commit to positive and lasting change.

"On August 30th, our team had the privilege of participating in National Drug Overdose Awareness Day at Rexall Store. This event was a crucial step in raising awareness about opioid overdoses and equipping our community with life-saving tools. We were able to distribute free naloxone kits to those in need and provide education on how to use them effectively.⁠

In addition, we collected unused and expired medications from patients for safe disposal, helping to prevent misuse and ensure these substances are handled responsibly. ⁠

We have reached the end of our donation campaign in Alberta, aimed at supporting the Canadian Red Cross in their efforts to assist those affected by the devastating wildfires in Jasper and other areas.

Thanks to our incredibly generous and supportive customers and employees, we have collected $25,686 in donations! With both federal and provincial governments matching donations to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal, our collective contribution totals $77,058, going directly to support the families and individuals most impacted by these wildfires.

This includes immediate and ongoing relief such as financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, and efforts towards recovery and resilience in response to the wildfires.

A special thank you goes out to our dedicated Alberta store teams; you have been instrumental in driving this campaign forward and showcasing our efforts to help support the community during this challenging time.
