So what's going on with the fly? We'll,it looks like there isn't much progress from the last update but I have done quite a bit. The progress is mostly on smaller details such as outlining individuals hairs. There is so much more things to add. I will clean up the the edge of the hairs on the arista, which are the feather looking things attached to the hairy looking cucumbers(antennas). The area that you see is about 60% rendered. There are so many details to add and it will definately change by the end. I haven't even started adding individual highlights with eraser so that will have quite an impact on how it looks. I can't wait to add the solid black background because it will make the fly stand out so much more. Let me know what you think and don't forget to share, like and follow. Store.onlypencil.com
So much work to do!! When drawing an elephant, most draw the main wrinkles and then some few minor wrinkles and that's it. Alot of the beautiful textures are ignored. I want to bring out as much of the elephant skin as possible through the textures. It's amazing the variety of textures that these animals have and it's such a joy playing with them. I have yet to add the highlights which will be darker because they are under shadow but it will add so much more depth. This skin will surely change by the end.

"African Warthog" Graphite/Carbon on 11"x14" Bristol Vellum
Done!! First drawing of the year!! I've been busy trying to finish this one for a show deadline(last night) and I'm happy to say i finished it just in time!
This was a fun one because warthogs have everything I love about drawing. The hair and textures in these animals are amazing!! As you can see it changed dramatically from the last posts. I darkened the lighter parts of the skin in order for the contrast not to be harsh. It's hard to really take in all the details from just this picture. I will make another post once I get it scanned. Even though it's not as large as my previous drawings,it has lots of detail. I wanted to make sure I got as much as possible. At the end of the drawings I go crazy with minute details that maybe no one will ever recognize but I know they should be there. It's usually to settle those crazy urges to surpass the image I have in my head of what I wanted to look like. I'm happy with this one and I hope you all are too. Thank you to everyone that followed the progress!! Please let me know what you think! Like, comment and tag me if you share it with your friends! On to the next one!! store.onlypencil.com
With the craziness of the holidays now out of the way,I can get back to my projects.
Here is what I have so far. I've put in about 24 hours of work in the last 2 days. Slowly but surely it's coming together. I'm refining the skin as I progress so it's different from last update. I've darkened some areas and will later add highlights. Those tiny hairs will also get refined when I have finished with all the skin. The remainder of the body will have a combination of wrinkled skin and dry mud so that will be fun 😅. I'm really excited with this one. I hope you are all having an amazing 2019 so far!!

I'm loving this more and more!! It's coming together really nicely. The hairs have yet to be rendered and i will do that once I have finished the skin. I still need to add the highlights to some of the skin as well so it will look different by the end. There are lots of shadows and areas where sunlight is very evident and It will make more sense as I progress. At the moment the edges are very hard looking and its because I have yet to add all the loose hair along there. These fine hairs will add so much more depth. I'm still debating on whether to add a background. If I do,it'll be blurry in order for the detailed warthog to stand out much more. We'll see what I decide by the end. This may be my last post for 2018. Ive done quite a bit from last update so it's a good way to end 2018.
I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year. Thank you for the incredible support you have shown me this past year!! May 2019 bring you much more health, happiness and success!!!Be safe everyone!🎉🎊🥂
I love seeing these kinds of posts. Someone made a portrait of me using my artwork. So creative! I love it!! Just thought I'd share it with you

I spent most of the day detailing more of the skin. I want to make sure it has that rough, textured look that warthogs are known to have. It's a tedious process because I'm adding wrinkles that have smaller wrinkles within them. It's looking good so far though. I seriously need to dedicate more time to this one. https://store.onlypencil.com
Limited edition and open edition prints. The first 4 are limited editions and the rest are open editions. A few of these are not found in my store so you can only get them by messaging me. Let me know if you're interested in any of these. These all measure 11"x14" on 16"x20" mat. Thanks everyone!! https://store.onlypencil.com
Scanned version of newest drawing. This drawing measures 5"x7". I have always enjoyed drawing tigers because of not only their beauty but because of the hair. I love adding textures to my drawings and this is why. It gives the drawing so much life and the hair doesn't look flat. I have always said that there are no hairdressers in the wild so animal hair should look messy and unkempt. It looks more natural.
Give this drawing a try by checking out my newly released ebook in my shop store.onlypencil.com
Drawing lesson has now been released in my store. I'll guide you from start to finish how to draw this tiger. Drawing measures 5"x7". Give it a try and thank you for the amazing support!! Post your results and tag me!

Hey everyone,I'll be releasing the first intensive lesson in my store soon and these are the materials that I use. The most important tools will be the stylus, but it will make make easier if you have the materials listed below. If you already have all these then you are ready!
In this lesson I will go into detail on how to draw the hair and what better way to learn than through practice,so we will be drawing a 5"x7" tiger from start to finish.

This is the one I use the most as it gives me the finest hair so it's very useful. If you prefer you can also make your own by taking a large sewing needle and grind the tip a bit to make it dull. The size of needle should be large enough to fit in those cheap BIC mechanical pencils.

This is in order to get darker areas for the final details.
-Highlighter Marker without the ink
If you have a shading stump you can use that, but I prefer using this. It takes a bit of work removing ink but it's a useful tool. The felt tip is perfect for shading. Please make sure all the ink is removed!!
-Crayola Marker Without Ink
These markers have a harder tip which gives you more control when shading. Please make sure all the ink is removed!!

I will be focusing more on teaching in the coming future and will begin planning workshops in different cities. If there is enough interest,I will have them in different locations. They will be 5-6 day workshops where we will do a full drawing and I will be there to explain each step. My goal is to teach techniques that can improve your wildlife art, especially on how to draw hair. I will start within Canada but like I mentioned,i will expand to different cities/countries if there is enough interest. I'm so excited to get into this and hopefully get to meet some of my long time followers!
Im working on extensive drawing lessons that I will be releasing through my store as digital downloads. In each lesson I'lll be guiding you step by step through a drawing from start to finish. These lessons will be for those looking to learn advanced techniques. I will continue to release free tutorials but these will be much more thorough for those interested. Each lesson will focus on a different animal where I will be guiding through the steps on how I go about drawing different types of hair, textures and the tools I use until the final drawing.
Pine cone scale study. This is for a project that I'll be working on in the future.
"I can't even draw a stick figure"
Not only is this the title of this drawing but it's also something I hear frequently 😅 I've had this idea for a while and thought I'd go for it. This drawing took about 2 days to complete. I used branches and twigs to make the figure and pieces of bark to make the facial features. I used larger piece of bark to make the hair. A stick figure it's as simple as you can get when it comes to drawing so drawing one out made out of real sticks was a interesting idea. I have other things similar concepts floating around in my head that I may try as well.
This drawing measures 11"x14" and was done with pencil and carbon on Bristol vellum. It may seem simple but there's quite a bit of detail. I hope you all like this one and let me know what you think and don't forget to like, follow and tag. Store.onlypencil.com 📨 message me if interested to purchase or if you'd like more info
I put in some hours into the fly drawing today. I'm taking some liberties and adding additional details that I think will look good with this drawing. I'm a huge fan of textures so I'm sure the surface on skin has lots of it. When I'm happy with the texture I will then finish refining the hairs on the antenna.
Still so much more to do but I'm loving that texture. This area will stand out significantly more when I start to add the darker areas around it.

30"x40" carbon/pencil drawing on illustration board
I love drawing elephants but fitting the largest land animal in such a small area is always tricky, especially the details. This drawing measures 2.5"x3.5" on Bristol vellum with carbon and graphite. It's up in my store if anyone is interested. I really love how this one turned out!! store.onlypencil.com
I put in a few hours on the warthog. This one will measure 11"x14" on Bristol vellum done with pencil and carbon. I'm currently texturing the tusks and depending on how they end up looking, i will darken or lighten the area around it. I just love those tiny hairs and I can't wait to refine them even more. Let me know what you think!! store.onlypencil.com
Just finished the new ACEO and is now up in my store. Hedgehogs are so cool looking. Let me know what you think and thank you everyone!! Store.onlypencil.com
This is my next large scale drawing. This one is going to measure 30"x40". This will be part of my low key photography series like the black bear and screaming chimp. I have gotten into macro photography and I'm so fascinated with the common fly. This drawing will show a fly in a way that most people haven't seen them. Their faces are full of tiny hairs that I can wait to start working on. The compound eyes will be lots of fun 😅 It's going to be extremely detailed and I can't wait to progress more.
If you interested in seeing my macro photography you can find out here http://instagram.com/lisandropenaphotography
Im working on several drawings and this is one of them. This one will measure 11"x14 and will be of a common warthog. I love the textures that they have and I can't wait to progress.
Im still alive 😅 I've been more active on Instagram so you if you'd like to follow me there you can finde here http://instagram.com/onlypencil. I'll be making a comeback on here though!!
I'm going back to my roots and will be working on miniatures. Apart from my larger drawings,I'll be also working on these. I have drawn hundreds of these miniatures over the years and it's what helped me get my work to so many loving homes. These drawings are also a great challenge with patience. Their small size forces me to take my time. This drawing measure 2.5"x3.5",the size of a baseball card. I have already started the next one!! 😁
Thank you everyone for the continuous support!!🙏
