A lovely antique French bonbonnière in ribbed pressed glass with a shapely, gently curved body that sits beautifully in the hand. The lid is the real showpiece — a ornate dark metal mount with scrolling Rococo-style relief decoration and a elegantly curved handle, the kind of metalwork that speaks to serious French decorative craftsmanship. Set it on a coffee table filled with chocolates, on a vanity to hold jewellery, or simply on a shelf where its combination of clear glass and dark ornamental metal can be properly appreciated.

An incredibly special piece, one we’re surprised survived our suitcase when bringing it home from France 🙈 A French faïence tray by Hippolyte Boulenger & Cie of Choisy-le-Roi, decorated with a spray of chrysanthemums—reds, corals, soft purple, and ochre against a cream ground, foliage running corner to corner. The transferware design is finished in a stunning polychrome. Marked on the reverse “Terre de Fer, Choisy-le-Roi.” A handsome flat tray for a vanity, console, or standing as a decorative piece 🤍
