Customer brought a PS5 in because it stopped reading game discs .

We tore down the ps5 and the blue ray drive, checked all mechanical parts such as rollers and gears and all were fine. We replaced the laser assembly as that’s common to fail.

After replacing laser, all games, movies all read again

Yet another iPad 9th gen cellular model came in because it wouldn’t turn on or charge anymore. We put the iPad on our tester and was showing 0amps. So we took the iPad apart and measured voltages on the charging rail. We were getting 5 volts on the charge port so charge port is fine. We also were getting voltages at Tristar and the customer never used cheap quality cables .

We then replaced the battery as the old one was 0 volts. After replacing battery and powering, the iPad now turns on and charges at 2amps now. We have a happy iPad now

Yet another MacBook Pro 13” came in because Apple said the customers MacBook was non repairable and to buy a new one. The customer said Apple would have to replace the entire logic board. They brought us the MacBook to diagnose

Symptom: no power or charging

We first hooked the MacBook to our amp meter tester and checked for power. We were not getting 20 volts or 5 volts. So we had to tear down the MacBook. We checked the fuse for the charger (F5200) and it was shorted to ground. We removed one side of the fuse and checked again.

Now we have a short on PPBUS_AON. The issue with the short being on this rail is there is many components to check.

So we injected 4 volts 5amps into the circuit and moved our hand around the board to see what gets hot. Around the area of CR736, it was getting hot.

We isolated the area and placed 99.99 percent isopropyl alcohol in the area and injected voltage again. A couple capacitors, and a IC for the speaker AMP (right side) was shorted to ground. After replacing these shorted components , the MacBook powered on.

This customer saved themselves thousands of dollars on buying another MacBook by having us repair the logic board.

A customer brought his laptop to my workshop and says please can you fix it for me?

I asked, what's wrong with it, he said he left his system on the table and rushed inside to get some files which he was working on, so before he came back, his 8years old son has poured holy water on his laptop while it's still on, when he asked him why did he do that, he said because the network was down and slow in browsing....

Customer had their iPad 6 repaired by a local repair shop on a weekend as we were closed. The shop told him his iPad needed a new charging port. They tried to replace port and said more things were also damaged such as the home button and speaker. That was untrue as everything was unplugged when we opened it. They also said it wasn’t repairable

They also ripped the 5volt rails and bridges pins for charging when removing old charge port as they are soldered. We had to run micro wires to repair the damage

We repaired the port , plugged everything back in and all is working 💯

Customer said their PlayStation 4 sounded like a jet engine and would shut off.

We opened the console up and found the heat sink completely clogged with dust and dirt. We also found the thermal paste on the APU was dry and crusty. We also replaced the paste, and new thermal pads for the ram modules

Now this customer has a nice quiet console! Enjoy your PS4

Xbox Series S came in because it stopped booting, and the screen went black.

We tore down the unit and inspected all the pins on the hdmi port and all were fine. We then checked the filters, caps, and resistors, and all were fine. We replaced the HDMI Encoder IC and the screen image came back.

However, it booted to recovery and wouldn’t load past it. We checked the hard drive and it had failed.

We replaced the hard drive, partitioned it correctly, and installed back into the console and used a usb stick to recover it, the console booted!

This poor iPod touch 7th Gen was smashed up, punctured in the back, and stopped turning on and or charging .

We checked battery voltage and it was 0. We then soldered a new battery but then the amperage sat at 0.43amps which means we have a short circuit .

We found two shorted caps full of corrosion on VCC Main. We removed these offending caps and the iPod charges and turns on again. We then soldered the old battery back and it’s charging 😉

We also had to dremel the housing as it was warped and bent in. We also replaced the screen and the iPod touch now charges, works, and will have one happy kid
