Lapsang Souchong means “small sort of pine wood”

The first black tea in history that is smoked over a pinewood fire.

This black tea has very unique characteristics that you will not find in other teas: the aroma of wood smoke, paprika, and smoked pine, resembles a smoking bonfire.

Despite its strong taste, Lapsang Souchong has a little bitterness with flavours of malt whiskey, dried fruit, and coffee.

Good news! You can add maple syrup to sweeten this tea! Natural caramel and vanilla notes in natural maple syrup make it an excellent addition to the smoky, pine aroma of tea.

Legend tells that on one spring day in the mid-1600s, a military unit passed a tea village on Wuyi Mountain and decided to spend the night at a tea farmer’s house. But the farmer got scared and ran away. The next morning, when the farmer came home, he noticed that the tea leaves were brown. Desperately trying to save the leaves, he fried them and then smoked them with a pine tree. He did not know that smoked flavour would become the favourite tea in Europe.

Currently, the leaves are traditionally roasted on a pine tree to create an exquisite smoke taste.
