Finally finished my piece from a recent Design on the Fly session I did, featuring VINTAGE beads from Bead Nerd - Vintage Beads, Cabochons and Jewellery Supplies (thanks Nes).

A magnetic clasp on the back will hold it securely on clothing, and I’m now going to work on a beaded rope that makes it a versatile pendant piece too.

My little stack of rings from a workshop I took last weekend.

Alicia’s method of three ways of capturing 8mm crystals was terrific. I can see more of these being made!

Three finished projects from my YELLOW ‘Design on the Fly’ session last week.

This colour really challenged me! I had to think outside the box for complimentary and contrast colours.

The large yellow disc, has now been adorned with a bead embroidery technique capturing the large cabochon and finished with a free hanging crystal beaded flower in thecentre, and a beaded tassel at the bottom with crystals around all of the edge.

The second piece is a navy decorative tassel so this is for just hanging on a wall or off a hook on a cupboard and that one has the yellow gem duo beads and some navy rondelles with a fire polish finish.

The third finish piece is a pair of really simple earrings with gem duos in a flower shape form, finished with the lemon natural pearl drop, and I matched this with silver and some vintage pearls.

Thanks Lynda from Banjos Bead House, the toughest colour I’ve had to work with.

I really enjoyed this challenge and it made me think well and truly outside the box.

I hope you all enjoyed it too!

Something new for On A String!

My newest design features and specially designed base, and loads of fringing.

This will be a new class offering in the next few months when I finish a couple more design tweaks.

Potentially I might bead a rope (maybe) and there is a backing piece to be attached.

Any suggestions for naming?

Beading.....why I love it

About 15 years ago, I saw a friend make a pair of earrings, by threading beads into wire and looping them together....and I was literally hooked.

From being a self taught beader, learning from Bead and Button and BeadWork magazines, through to joining the Bead Society of Victoria in 2009...my journey continues to fascinate and teach me. My husband and sons were the reason I joined the Bead Society of Victoria - they got a bit over me sharing my craft with them and the BSV is filled with like minded people. I love it so much that I joined the committee - and am now the Vice President!

I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world with my hobby. I’ve attended Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee regularly, travelled through Bohemia on a bead tour and cruise, and now I teach in Melbourne and beyond - what a journey it’s been!

My home studio is my happy space - there’s nothing more that I enjoy more - pottering about, creating my own designs or learning from others I admire all over the world. It’s where you can usually find me after work, relaxing, beading and watching rubbish on my iPad 😊
