Today is Old Vine Day.

Why old vines are special?

Old vines are treasured because they tell a story — of the land, the seasons, and the hands that have cared for them year after year.

As vines age, their roots grow deep into the soil, tapping hidden layers of minerals and moisture. This gives the fruit extra complexity and concentration, creating more depth, more character, more flavour in every bunch.

Older vines also tend to produce smaller crops, which means the grapes they do grow are often more intense and balanced. You’ll often taste a beautiful purity, developing flavours that are richer, yet more refined.

And then there’s the heritage: old vines connect us to the past. They’re living proof of generations of growers who’ve nurtured them through droughts, storms and seasons of plenty. Every glass from an old vine block is a toast to that legacy.
