The Queen has died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon, Buckingham Palace has announced.

PREMIERS STATEMENT

On behalf of the people of New South Wales, I extend my deepest sympathies to all members of the Royal family, following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who has passed away at the age of 96.

Today we reflect on the remarkable life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The young Princess Elizabeth became Queen of England at the age of 25 after the death of her adored father, King George VI, in 1952. Her Coronation took place in Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953.

Her official title was Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of Australia and Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth.

Queen Elizabeth II went on to become the longest-reigning British monarch, Australian sovereign and leader of the Commonwealth of Nations, which she navigated for seven decades - with dignity, courage and commitment.

She has been an inspiration to the global community and here in New South Wales, visiting our State 12 times.

As the first reigning monarch to visit our nation, Queen Elizabeth set foot for the first time on Australian soil in 1954 at Farm Cove in Sydney Harbour where an unprecedented crowd of more than one million people greeted her.

The public’s overwhelming jubilation and enthusiasm at seeing the young monarch was the beginning of the state’s long-held joy in her frequent visits.

Her Late Majesty will forever be connected to pivotal moments in our State’s history. She officially opened the Parliament of New South Wales in 1954, Sydney Opera House in 1973, Parramatta Stadium in 1986, and Darling Harbour in 1988.

She also visited NSW regional areas including Newcastle, Lismore, Orange, Dubbo, Armidale, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga, drawing huge crowds of well-wishers.

While we mourn her passing, it is the occasion for the people of NSW to offer thanks for a lifetime of public duty to the Crown, the Commonwealth, and to millions of people across the globe.

More information on how NSW will pay tribute and observances will be provided later today at nsw.gov.au

I have met Jenny Morrison a number of times and am always uplifted by her genuine, caring soul. She is now publicly sharing her fight with endometriosis, and many women going through the same thing will appreciate her words of understanding as they look to start their own family or have another child.

More than 800,000 Australian women suffer endometriosis and a record $58 million will now be invested to establish specialised endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics in every state and territory to improve diagnosis, care and treatment.

Australians planning a pregnancy will also have easier access to genetic testing for three serious genetic conditions, with the Morrison Government investing $81.2 million for a new Medicare item for universal screening.

BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL TO SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS AND THEIR STAFF
As you we all know prices are rising everywhere. Unfortunately this is also happening in small business’s as well.
I’m sure that all small business owners and staff will agree with me when I say please be kind to us. Unfortunately you will see over the upcoming months that small business owners will also have no choice but to increase their prices also.
This isn’t something that we as business owners want to do but unfortunately it is out of our hands. For me personally as a small business owner in just over 3 years of business I have had the challenges of 6 natural disasters but hey who is counting! Please remember this when you enter any small business, you don’t know the challenges that we are facing. Unfortunately some customers don’t realise when they react to these small increases with comments like is that the price? Or a roll of their eyes makes us feel a little uneasy and you are disrespecting our businesses and us as owners. My favourite would have to be when customers know the price but then decided that they will only try to pay you what they want and say oh I owe you… we stand there knowing that we will never see that money again because it gets forgotten about…. As business owners I can say for all of us we work dam hard for every cent that potentially comes into our business. When I talk to fellow business owners these types of scenarios happen more often then what we would like to admit. Please be kind to us… you wouldn’t dream of trying this is a major chain store so why is it ok for a small business?
