There are two type of people:

One who get up, hated the whole world, other humans, have the minimum sufficient energy to arrive at the coffee machine and press that button. Grasp the last drop of energy and land on the sofa to drink it. Minding their own business and thinking how they are going through the day.

And then...there is my husband! Jumping here and there, unloading the dishwasher, loading it again, folding clothes, have the energy to conquer the world, watching towards me, wondering what happened to me.

It's funny how those two completely different humans....decide to marry each other😅😅😅😅

Drop a ❤️ if you can relate😅

I thought for this Christmas, to make ceramics that brings sunshine in your daily routine ❤️

A cup of coffee in a mug that brings you joy. Or some flowers in a small cup that makes your room more lively.

These pieces are made with flowers imprinting and painted with bright colours.

They are my very first pieces of my Christmas small batch collection.

Drop a ❤️ in the comments if they made you smile☺️

My little Gabriel, this is a promise from mum:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You'll never be the reason why I lose myself. You'll never be the reason why mum doesn't follow her dreams or achieve what she wants. You'll always be the reason why she never gives up and the reason to try even harder to achieve what she wants as a woman and businesswoman.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to be your role model of persistence, consistency and motivation. With you next to me, I feel I can face anything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love you so much my little beautiful baby❤️❤️❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
P.s. My workshop of the 17th of September has been already sold out, in just a couple of days, before having the time to advertise on Instagram. Thank you so much for all those who booked. I'm thinking to open another day, 24th of September, to give the chance to who wanted to have a workshop with me this month❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Send me a DM or drop a comment if you would love me to open another day😊️😊️😊️

A dream came true: I opened my own ceramics shop!

I'm from very small town in Italy, where while growing up I have never been really exposed to art or meet full time artists. I have never really met someone who would be "following his passion" as it would sound naive.

Making art was seen as a hobby and not a real career or a real job. So I never really explored the idea of studying in Art school...

Travelling in different places and living in different cities between Australia and Europe, I finally met so many people truly passionate about their career...
Especially London has been a great experience to dream big, and dream even bigger. You could bump into any sort of personality or kind of job....even those jobs that you don't even know they actually...exist😅

After 1 year in London, I asked myself something that probably I was supposed to ask at least 10 years before, but just didn't have the capacity or awarness to do: "Are you following your passions Francesca?"

Nope

Now, the little 8yo me would be so happy to see me opening this ceramic shops with my creations😊.

In collaboration with , we have a super cute shop inside the , only 5 min from Victoria Park.

Inside the you'll also find really beautiful shops and at the front we have also a nice coffee shop.

We are open every day from 10am to 3pm.

Really long post allert, as this is something that it’s really important to me and a message I would like to give:
Yesterday, I was reading a post of one of my favourite Italian writers called .gotto , one of the most interesting personality I follow on social media. He travels around the world with the love of his life, writing books and having the life he always dreamed of.
I can relate to him so much, as he is following his , like I’m following mine, working as a potter.

In a recent post, he announce that they re expecting a baby and he talked about how people are commenting on this telling them that their life will change after that. Basically, they are implying that their life or their dream will be affected by their own newborn.

I really appreciate his comment about how life is in costant mutation and happiness is in embracing the changes and accepting what happens in life like a river flowing.

When I was pregnant, and I was just arrived here and didn’t have any friends, I receveived all sort of these comments:
oh you’ll have your hands so full with the baby that you will forget about ceramics, you won’t sleep anymore, you’ll need to forget about your work as the baby will keep you too busy at least for a couple of years, and you’ll be so sleep deprived that you’ll don’t care about ceramics anymore, having a baby is a coise between your career as an artist and your personal life, motherwood is quit lonely, the baby keep you stuck in the house…and even more of all these unneeded comments and defently not encouraging, did have a big impact on me, especially as I was in a period of big changes and hormonal rollercoasters.

Then, Gabriel arrived!

And I can’t think of a happier and more beatiful things that happend to me and my husband. He is my little angel and thinking about all those negative comments, I wander why people think it’s acceptable to talk about how your baby will negatively impact your life (and he really did not for me) but nobody told me how funny and how many laugh your baby will give you.
How sweet it is to wake up and see your little human puppy smiling back at you.
continue in comments...I told you it was long😂

A mini interview for the Facebook and Instagram page of the Perth Studio Potters as a studio member ☺️

Perth Studio Potters is made by an incredible creative group of members from all ages and nationalities and we would love you to know more about each one of them. Here is our first of many mini-interviews to inspire and connect with our pottery community!

Meet our PSP member Francesca Geromino. 🎥

When was your first experience with clay?
Since I was 5 years old, I used to travel every year for a couple of weeks in Tuscany and Umbria. I remember being fascinated by the artisans in the main streets of the small towns, working on the weeps and selling their amazing Majolica.

I had to wait until 27 years old to be able to attend my first ceramic course, thanks to a local Potter who opened a small studio in my hometown.

What does your work aim to say?
My work is a hymn to nature. Organic shapes, colours that reminds my Sea and Mediterranean herbs I printed in the clay. It's a romantic memory of my land.

Tell us about your techniques?
I use handbuilding techniques like slabbing and coiling. My main creations consists in plates, vases and mugs.

Do you plan ahead for your ceramic creations?
No, I don't. It's very spontaneous. At the beginning of each collection, pieces just happen to arrive. I have periods were I experiment a lot, without thinking to the final result. Then I would pick one specific design and reproduce it multiple times but each piece would be different from each other.

What do you appreciate the most about Perth Studio Potters?
I appreciate being part of such an old ceramics club and being part of a very knowledgeable community. I feel like I can learn a lot.

If you were a glaze?
I would defenetly be a crackle turquoise!!

Have a look at these😍😍😍😍

Today and yesterday I have been at the Made on the Left market in Fremantle.

If it was for me, I would do markets every week. I love meeting new people, talk about ceramics, see if my ceramics get appreciated ❤️.

What I really don't like and with my bad back is the packing, unpacking but also the arrangement of the table😭😭😭😭. I might be creative with ceramics but don't ask me to arrange my own ceramics 😅.

It's an extremely hard job!

I couldn't make it if good souls like my husband and friends didn't help me. It wouldn't have been impossible for me.

So thank you for all the packing, lifting, for cooking lunch and bring it to me in the stall, for taking some turns so I could relax and rest and the hugs when I was exhausted, and thank you for all the last minute problems you solved and for an AMAZING arrangement of the table! I got so many compliments about it and I was hoping you were there to listen how good you are.

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

In support of October mental health awareness, I'm partecipating to a exhibition that is running until Saturday 16th of Oct at the Fremantle Fibonacci Art Center.

Today, I spoke about my personal experience on how ceramics has helped me with health anxiety due to chronic pain.

I have listened all the other stories from other artists and I felt better talking about my own story and being open about it.

Pain is unfair...it comes without asking for permission and it leaves you in search of strategies to deal with it.

Ceramics has being a lifeline for me.

When I do my practice, is when my brain stops chatting, my body relaxes and the chronic tensions lessens.

It's my safe space!

I have never been really outspoken on Instagram about my chronic pain, maybe because I'm quit an introvert when it's up to talk about personal things in public.

But I also believe that opening up more often and bring awareness can make a change in people perspective and acceptance.

Is there anything you want to find the courage to share?

☺️
