Daily Habits to Reduce your Allergy & Hay Fever

Keep your windows closed at times when the pollen count is highest (usually in the early morning and evening) to prevent pollen entering your home and triggering your symptoms.

Reduce your intake of histamine-triggering foods and drinks, such as coffee and alcohol (especially beer, cider, and wine, which contain high histamine levels). Histamine is the chemical your immune system produces when exposed to allergens, responsible for the swelling and itching in your nasal passages and eyes. However, it is also found in some foods and drinks, and avoiding these may help reduce your symptoms.

Vacuum your house frequently, preferably with a vacuum cleaner with a high-efficiency particulate arresting (HEPA) filter. This can remove pollens and other allergens from your home, keeping them from causing symptoms.

Wear wrap-around sunglasses and a hat with a brim to keep pollen out of your eyes to limit itchy, streaming, swollen eyes.

Minimise pollen being spread throughout your house, by showering, washing your hair and changing your clothes as soon as you get home. Not only will this keep pollen from triggering your symptoms, but it will make less work for you when you vacuum.

Wash your bed sheets frequently and at a high temperature to remove pollen that may have made its way into bed on your clothes, hair, or through your window. Dry your sheets indoors to prevent pollen sticking to them as they dry.

Punch of flavour

Green Mint-coriander chutney:

Mint-coriander chutney is one of the most popular and tasty chutneys prepared in the traditional manner of Indian cuisine. This spicy and tangy chutney is made by blending green coriander, mint leaves, cumin, green chilli (optional)salt sweet. This chutney is Gluten-free and vegan, this quick and easy to make and pairs
perfectly as a dipping sauce with any snack like sandwiches, fritters, patties, burgers, wraps.

* 1 bunch of chopped coriander leaves
* 1 small bunch of mint leaves
* 1 tsp chopped ginger
* 1 green chilli, chopped(optional)
* 1-2 tsp lemon juice
* ½ tsp ground cumin seeds
* 1/2 cup of water
* 2 tsp sugar or any other sweetener

1. Blend to combine all ingredients. If you over-grind the chutney, there is a chance it will turn bitter, so give it a gentle couple of whirls in the blender.
2. Check seasoning and add lemon and/or salt to taste.
3. Store chutney in a covered bowl or container in the refrigerator until serving.

Health benefits of Coriander
It is a good source of antioxidants Using coriander to flavor food may encourage people to use less salt and reduce their sodium intake.

The disinfectant, detoxifying, antiseptic, antifungal, and antioxidant properties of coriander may prove to be ideal for clearing up skin disorders like eczema,dryness, and fungal infections.

Coriander seeds contain beneficial acids like linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). These compounds may be very effective in reducing cholesterol in the blood.

Coriander oral extracts and essential oil have shown potential in treating colon inflammation. Research shows that the herb has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. This may make it a good candidate for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) prevention of therapy.

Health benefits of Mint herbs

Mint is a calming herb that people have used for thousands of years to help soothe an upset stomach or indigestion.

Mint contains menthol. This an aromatic decongestant that might help to break up phlegm and mucus, making it easier to expel.

Mint has been used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments for many years. Unfortunately, there aren't many human studies documenting the impact mint has on the body apart from digestion support and irritable bowel syndrome relief. With time, research could confirm that mint is useful in treating a wider variety of illnesses.

Following on from our previous posts about preconception preparation.

🌟Reducing your chemical exposure.🌟

The eggs and s***m are particularly susceptible to damage as they are developing. So where possible both partners should make the choice to avoid chemicals and toxins both at home and in the work place.

This includes:
✨The heating and using of plastics. Use glass or ceramic instead.
🌻The use of air fresheners, fabric softeners, scented candles and some perfumes. Also some skin care, hair care and personal care products. Use natural and certified organic products where possible including essential oils, and cosmetics.
⚡Use environmentally friendly household cleaning products.
🌟Avoid heavy metals and avoid inhaling and direct contact with pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers. If you have to use them protect yourself with the use of masks and gloves. Also avoid inhaling glues, paints, solvents and printer ink.
✨Keep your mobile phone and computers away from your body and clear your bedroom of all electric devices. Stand clear of microwaves and photocopiers.

If you would like to know more about how to prepare for pregnancy get in touch with our Naturopaths who can guide you on your road to a healthy and happy pregnancy.❤️

⚡Preconception Preparation.⚡
The importance of diet. The next few weeks I will be posting about diet during this important time.

Your body uses the nutrients that it gets from food to produce all that you need to function. It also needs these nutrients from food to produce quality eggs and s***m.

What nutrients are important for preconception care?

❤️ The first one is protein.❤️
Protein are the building blocks in your body. They help repair and build body tissues like hair, skin and nails, they allow metabolic reactions to occur, and they maintain proper fluid balance and pH. They are especially important when growing a baby! The type and quality of the protein is important too.

You find protein in the following foods.
Meat - both red and white
Fish - small oily fish
Eggs
Dairy
Nuts and seeds
Legumes and pulses
Whole grains

If you would like to know more about what to eat when preparing to have a baby come into the store or make an appointment with one of our qualified Naturopaths who can help you on your way to a happy and healthy pregnancy and baby.
