We’ve been waiting for what felt like an eternity, and now it has finally arrived: summer.

The city has not yet turned into an oven, the evenings linger pleasantly, and we find ourselves gathering with family and friends. The first cherries and red currants have appeared. They’re still a little sour, but perhaps that’s part of their charm.

Children are laughing, dogs are announcing their opinions to the neighborhood, and every so often the world seems to pause, if only for a moment. Occasionally, there is even time to lie in the grass with a book, sheltered by the shade of an apple tree and the illusion that nothing terribly urgent is waiting for us.

For a brief while, the days feel longer than our to-do lists, conversations stretch into twilight, and the air carries the faint promise that things might somehow work out after all.

Life is beautiful. Not always, certainly. But often enough.

Designed to rest on a desk or hang from a wall, Lamparaprima consists of a metal rod supporting an LED tube, encased in a rotating visor-like shade. By bending and twisting a clothes hanger, Pete Sans came upon an ingenious and expressive solution that would become his first commercial lamp and the second product ever issued by Santa & Cole.

It‘s hard to pick a favourite, but the Cubico Bedframe by our new Brand RYE is just perfect.

Created by Italian designer Martina Branchetti, it is a contemporary interpretation of a low-profile platform bed. Crafted from solid beech wood, a horizontal shape defined with chamfered edges is connected to four sturdy pillars, whose almost brutalist character creates a sense of rootedness within the bedroom. As the final touch, the wood is stained by one of two distinct pigmentations, recalling the tradition of mediterranean mid-century furniture design.

Santa & Cole – Antoni Arola – Shiro 17 interior

Shiro, which translates as “white” in Japanese, carries deep significance in the country’s philosophical tradition, evoking emptiness, honor, purity, and calm. Its rational, refined structure does not enclose but filters light through the slats arranged in a cubic form. Although originally conceived for outdoor use, its smaller indoor version becomes a discreet and versatile source of indirect light.

We’re welcoming the Year of the Horse with a lovable design collectible: a carefully hand-carved, minimalist wooden horse by French artist and wood sculptor Victor Gianotta, made from chestnut wood. FACETED PLATINUM VASES by MATTHIAS KAISER

This vase has been wheel thrown from a very short clay (containing a high amount of quartz) and faceted with a wire before becoming leather hard. This particular type of clay has been in use since the Kingdom of Noricum, even before the Roman empire ruled Austria.
The deposit is now in the province of Burgenland, but had fallen into neglect. Matthias Kaiser revived it, digging the clay and refining it at his studio.The clay contains a lot of iron ore that was also used since the iron age because it is particularly easy to mine at this site. Iron tools and weapons made from it were exported as far as Italy.
Kaiser uses the clay in totally unaltered state, extracting only large size iron ore lumps and adding nothing at all. The vase has been fired three times, first there is a bisque firing at 950°C and subsequently a glaze is applied and it is fired a second time, at 1250°C.
The glaze he used here has a feldspar/reed ash/wood ash base and contains a high percentage of metallic oxides, giving it a surface that is matt or glossy, depending on the thickness of application, and has a wrinkled texture.
Then a platinum overglaze is applied with a small brush. It contains the actual precious metal. Finally the piece is fired for a third time, at 750°C.
